OUR WORK
What We Do
AFH is a registered Canadian charity founded in 2008. We provide physically disabled children in Ghana with life-changing and sustainable support, focused on delivering access to medical care and education.
Our founder's remarkable personal story was the spark that ignited our passion for the children of Ghana, and now we’ve been working there for 18 years.
How We Work
Over 18 years, we've grown a strong in-country network of people and organizations to help identify children in the most dire need.
We then work with each child, their family and their community to develop long-term relationships that last beyond a child's medical rehabilitation, through to the completion of their education. That is how we ensure that each AFH child has a true opportunity to become so much more than their disability.
The AFH Difference
From the beginning, AFH has operated at a grass-roots level, and we continue to work entirely through unpaid volunteers who deliver resources directly. This helps us to keep administrative costs exceptionally low, so donations go straight to where they are needed most.
At AFH we strive to maintain lasting relationships once we become involved with a child.
